Apple has officially replaced the Mac operating system with a new OS named Sierra. The announcement has been made last week, at this year's edition of WWDC.
According to ArsTechnica, the Mac has long since ceased to be Apple's most important product. However, the high-tech company has kept up the tradition of using a secondary name on each OS release.
The "macOS" rebranding as "Sierra" can be indicative of the new operating system getting. The OS is building on Yosemite's foundation and introduces incremental change. The public beta version will be launched in July and the public release is expected later in the fall.
According to Herald Sun, the new version of macOS will offer a new user experience and it will come as a free update and. Apple has decided to add Siri as a new feature to Sierra OS after seeing the success Microsoft had with the personal assistant for Windows 10, Cortana.
Sierra will bring new capabilities designed just for the desktop, as well as the handy features of Siri on iOS to your Mac. According to Apple's claims, Siri on Mac is all about making everyday tasks on desktop much easier through multi-tasking.
Among the desktop-specific tasks included, users will be able to ask Siri to locate files hidden deep inside their computer or getting Siri to complete an action while they finish a different task. For easy access, users will be able to keep Siri results.
Apple wrote on a blog post that everything will stay up to date right in Notification Center for users to always know where to find important documents, trending topics and more.
Another important update to macOS is "Photos", an application that comes with a built in artificial intelligence system. It automatically groups pictures into slide shows and albums called "Memories" and it offers better facial recognition.
A picture in picture feature is introducing the ability to watch a video while performing another task on your Mac. Users can choose to resize and play the video in any corner of the desktop.
An all-new Apple Music experience comes with a freshly redesigned platform inside iTunes that aims to make finding songs even simpler. An enhanced iMessage feature will play preview links and videos right in the conversation and allow for even bigger emojis.
