A rare iPad with two dock connectors has surfaced on eBay. It is a prototype of the original iPad but instead of just one dock connector, it features two - one in portrait and the other in landscape mode. This iPad never went into mass production as Apple decided to sell the tablet with a single dock connector.
Dual-Port iPad Prototype Description
The iPad comes with two 30- pin connections intended for portrait-landscape mode. It is a 16GB Wi-Fi-only model which has undergone minor repairs to make it more functional. So far, all internal parts of the prototype iPad are performing well except for the battery and some functions such as the touch screen and the display's flex cable, which lacks security clip.
Apple's or not?
Though research analysts found some possibilities that the second dock connector is not original, detailed pictures indicating Apple's attempt to create a dual port iPad may prove that the device was indeed part of the Apple lineage. It can be testified by looking at the holes for connectors located near the tablet's home button and another on the other side of the iPad. However, there are also photos which suggested that the device is not an Apple product as the serial number engraved on the device, is not included in Apple's database. Some claim it was supposed to serve as Apple's test units for its first version tablet.
