"Limitless" Season 2 was cancelled by CBS probably due to audience rating, but diehard fans are conducting an online petition to revive the cancelled show.
CBS announced around two months ago that it will not renew "Limitless" for a second season on "any platform." On May, "Limitless" showrunner Craig Sweeney posted on Twitter the sad news. He thanked the fans who watched and enjoyed the short-lived series, according to TV Line. The season one finale ended on April 26.
CBS President Glenn Geller even permitted the transfer of "Limitless" to another studio or network. Both Amazon and Netflix were offered to continue the second season. However, neither of them took the offer.
Diehard fans, however, refused to give up the fight. They set up an online petition with the aim of collecting at least 4,000 signatures or supporters. As of date, around 3,483 have signed up.
Based on industry ratings, it garnered more than two out of a hundred adult audiences, according to the Hollywood Reporter. Those numbers dramatically increase with those who record the show for later viewing. However, "Limitless" noticeably trails with live time audiences. Its counterparts like "NCIS" and "NCIS: New Orleans" garnered more audiences. It was one of several CBS shows that were cancelled after its season run.
"Limitless" is a story of an average man named Brian Finch (Jake McDorman) who accidentally enhanced his mental capabilities by taking a drug known only as NZT-48. The effect of the drug lasts for 12 hours but during that time his intuition and line of reasoning becomes razor sharp.
The drug has nasty side effect, though, since it could kill him. Fortunately, he also takes in medicine to counter it. He helps the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) solve some of its most difficult cases. His partner in the FBI is agent Rebecca Harris (Jennifer Carpenter).
Limitless season one had 22 episodes and run from 2015 until 2016.
