Apple Inc. and Goldman Sachs have announced relief measures for victims of the ongoing Los Angeles wildfires, postponing Apple Card payments and waiving interest charges for affected users. This follows an earlier commitment by Apple CEO Tim Cook to donate to recovery efforts for the disaster-stricken region.
Apple Card Extends Relief to Los Angeles Wildfire Victims
According to a report by Bloomberg's Mark Gurman, Apple and its financial partner, Goldman Sachs, have informed Apple Card users in areas designated as "natural disaster zones" that they "may be eligible" for payment assistance. The program allows affected users to defer their payments without accruing interest on outstanding balances.
This initiative, part of the companies' Disaster Relief Program, ensures accounts in good standing remain current while enrolled. Users with past-due accounts will retain their status but will have the opportunity to address overdue payments without additional penalties during the relief period.

Apple and Tim Cook Pledge Support to Wildfire Victims
The Los Angeles wildfires have prompted numerous organizations to offer aid, with Apple among those stepping forward. CEO Tim Cook announced the company's plans to donate to the wildfire victims, emphasizing Apple's commitment to supporting recovery efforts.
Apple Card Services and Goldman Sachs Collaboration
Apple Card, launched in partnership with Goldman Sachs, has provided a seamless way for users to make transactions through Apple devices. However, the collaboration has faced challenges over the years, including reports of a potential split between the companies.
Despite these difficulties, the duo recently introduced the Apple Card Savings program, allowing users to earn high-yield interest on savings. While the program's annual percentage yield (APY) has fluctuated — peaking at 4.50% before dropping slightly below 4.15% — it remains a notable feature of the partnership.
The ongoing relief efforts in Los Angeles underscore the ability of Apple and Goldman Sachs to collaborate in addressing critical situations, demonstrating their shared commitment to providing meaningful assistance in the face of disaster.
As the wildfires continue to impact Angelenos, Apple's donation and its financial relief measures through the Apple Card aim to ease the burden for affected residents while reinforcing its role as a socially responsible corporation.
