Latest news from the popular arcade game 'Tekken 7' reveal that it will possibly feature crossplay for Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC versions. The 'Tekken X Street Figher' game will depend on its separate sequels success. Tekken's Katsuhiro Harada said in an interview that the development team adds Akuma to the Tekken world.
Harada expounded that the Tekken X Street Fighter collaboration title in 2012 was a great practice for the two universe to work together and witness how a 3D fighting game character would work on a 2D space depending on the gameplay. The development team of Tekken 7 hopes to do the same move but in a reverse manner. According to Shoryuken, Harada responds to the question and said that adding the Street Fighter characters to the game, such as Akuma that has a fireball mechanic is not terribly difficult to balance especially with his signature skill, the Gohadoken. He also supports his answer by saying that there are lots of cases of projectiles within the game's series.
Harada also added that the collaboration title has not been canceled totally but just being put on hold. According to Yibada, there are several steps which game developers of both parties must discuss first before making further decisions. Since Microsoft reportedly announced their will to work for a possible cross-play for Xbox One on other platforms, Sony, on the other hand will make their final decision which regards to the matter. But hopefully, both Sony and Microsoft are willing to let it happen.
On the other news, the Tekken X Street Fighter development could possibly depend on the success of both Tekken 7 and Street Fighter V. As Harada stated, the reason for the hold is that Capcom had just launched Street Fighter V and putting their work on making it successful than ever while on their side, they have just launched Tekken 7 on the arcade which is popular than expected. So promoting these two franchises separately is the main priority at the moment, for their players to enjoy.
