"Pokemon Go" players are reportedly using this nifty trick or cheat in evolving their Eevee. This particular Pokemon can evolve into a Flareon, Jolteon or a Vaporeon depending on the player's preference.
The Eevee evolving trick was first posted in Reddit. The poster claimed that players can force their Eevee to evolve to their preferred eeveelution by using the nicknames of the three brothers who owned them.
For example, naming the Eevee Pyro will get you a Flareon, Rainer gives Vaporeon and Spark will evolve a Jolteon. After naming the Eevee, players need to shut down the "Pokemon Go" game. Players should wait for a few moments then restart the game. They can then check if the Eevee's name has been carried out successfully.
Some have expressed doubts of such a trick actually working, according to Attack of the Fanboy. There have been reports that some players were not successful in evolving their Eevee using the nicknames method. That is why it has been recommended to force end the game and then restart it again. This method appears to take advantage of a glitch in the "Pokemon GO" system.
Those who were successful in using this trick also reported that the cheat seems to work only once. However, such claims can not yet be substantiated.
Niantic Labs CEO John Hanke earlier confirmed this Eevee evolution trick during Comic-Con in San Diego last month, according to CNET. Interestingly, it seems that this "Pokemon Go" cheat is one of the few sanctioned by Niantic.
The Reddit poster added that "Pokemon Go" players may be limited to one particular Eevee at a time. This may mean that each player is only allowed to have one Flareon, Jolteon and Vaporeon. This does not mean, however, that players will not be allowed to have multiple Eevees in the foreseeable future.
