The 2018 Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 prototype was reportedly sighted in Michigan. The rumored sports car was seen cruising near Ford's research and development center.
A video of the supposed prototype was uploaded on August 9 by someone named, Mustang6G. The uploader said that the engine's noise hints of something about its performance.
It is rumored that the car possibly has a 750 horsepower supercharged engine with a 5.2-liter capacity Voodoo V8 type, according to Fox News. However, some claim that the 2018 prototype will be equipped with an Ecoboost type Coyote V8 twin-turbo with a 5-liter capacity.
Experts said that the engine type will return the Mustang Shelby to the number one spot among the recent muscle cars. The Camaro ZL1 650 hp from Chevrolet and the Challenger SRT Hellcat 707 hp from Dodge are the two top contenders in the muscle car category.
Aside from the rumored engines, not much detail has been released about the rumored Ford muscle car. It is assumed that the GT500's interior will share some similarity with the current GT-350, according to Top Speed.
The exterior seems impressive based on the video of the rumored Ford Mustang prototype. It is also speculated that the new GT 500 will possibly have bigger bumper intakes and improved primary grille that will permit more air intake to the car's powerful engine. Car experts believed that the upcoming Ford Mustang may feature a better performing diffuser. Such features, however, could not be confirmed in the video.
Ford has not yet officially confirmed if it has a Mustang prototype right now. However, there are rumors that the upcoming Shelby GT500 may soon be unveiled in the Los Angeles car show that will be held on November of this year. If not, the Ford Mustang may instead make its debut in the upcoming Detroit Car show which will be held on January 2017.
