The extremely popular mobile game, "Pokemon Go," has helped a once struggling ice cream shop in Anacortes, Washington, to thrive again.
According to Heavy, "Pokemon Go" is certainly one of the most popular social games ever. It already reached and surpassed in terms of daily users the levels of Twitter, Google Maps, Tinder, Snapchat and other very popular apps. While the "Pokemon Go" craze is still going strong, the businesses in highly trafficked areas are struggling to take advantage of it by any means.
By involving landmarks, actual physical locations and businesses in the form of PokeStops and Pokemon Gyms, "Pokemon Go" not only managed to attract players, but it helped some businesses to thrive too. Any business in or around a highly populated area should take into consideration the value of the popular "Pokemon Go" game and look for ways to use it in order to drive more foot traffic and revenue. A recent survey by Slant Marketing found that as much as 82 percent of players of the popular "Pokemon Go" mobile game had visited a business while playing.
There are several top ways businesses are already using the game to add more profit making opportunities. Among them is the use of a "Pokemon Go" in-game feature called "Lure Module," the use of coupons to be offered to customers who show their "Pokemon Go" collections, capitalizing on Pokemon Go Gyms and more.
According to Business Insider, it's all because of "Pokemon Go" that the ice cream shop in Anacortes, Washington is not struggling anymore. Gary Dear, the owner of Mad Hatter's Ice Cream, said in an interview for KING 5 that since the "Pokemon Go" game was released in early July, he's had to hire more employees and extend business hours.
As he put it in the interview for the local news station, after being forced to close his shop in late June due to illness, now "the Pokey light shines down" on him. He decided to suddenly reopen his shop days later when the "Pokemon Go" augmented reality mobile game was released in the App Store.
Because of its position on the game's map near multiple PokesStops, now players flood his ice cream shop. They place lures at the stops in order to attract Pokemon to the area. As one Reddit user who lives in the area wrote on Thursday, August 11, on the Reddit website, most of the time the lures are up till 1am or sometimes even later.
