'Marco Polo' Season 3 Will Air Without Benedict Wong

So far, there hasn't been any news for the renewal of the series on Netflix, "Marco Polo," for its third season. There have been reports that this may be due to the exit of actor, Benedict Wong, who plays one of the main roles on the show, Kublai Khan.

There have been reports claiming that actor Benedict Wong will no longer be reprising his role as Kublai Khan on "Marco Polo" due to the show's declined ratings and negative reviews. Despite the show getting countless of negative reviews, Movie News Guide reported that the show was still praised for its amazing portrayal and historical representation of the Mongolian subject matter.

Marco Polo Too Expensive To Produce

Since the show hasn't been renewed by Netflix until now, there have been speculations of its cancellation. One of the possible reasons is its high production cost. This was the reason why it took "Marco Polo" almost a year and a half before streaming its second season. It has been considered as one of the most expensive shows on Netflix, needing millions of dollars to complete an entire season.

John Fusco and Olivia Cheng Teasing Season 3 Possibility

However, a glimmer of hope has been ignited among the fans of "Marco Polo" when its creator, John Fusco took to his Twitter account to reveal a Season 3 hint. He recently posted a photo of Benedict Wong, portraying the role of Kublai Khan, with the caption "We're not done, Monk. Me and you, we're not done," as reported by Christian Today. As it can be recalled, season 2 ended with a fight between Kublai Khan and Prester John.

Aside from the creator, actress Olivia Cheng who plays the role of Lin Mei on "Marco Polo" also took to her Twitter account and encouraged the fans of the show not to give up on the possibility of a third season.

Netflix is speculated to be currently giving time for Fusco to research deeper into the storyline of the show and may possibly give it a go for one more season. Needless to say, fans of "Marco Polo" are indeed still keeping their hopes up for an upcoming third season.
