There are reportedly five fresh NBA players that are eligible for the 2016-2017 Kia Rookie of the Year Award. Each player comes from various teams in the NBA.
Philadelphia 76ers
The 76ers has two potential rookies vying for the prestigious Kia award. Ben Simmons was the top draft pick this year. Not yet in his twenties, Simmons is also the top favorite for making 2016-2017 Rookie of the year.
Meanwhile, fellow team member Joel Embiid was the third top draft pick two years ago. Unfortunately, he broke some of his bones and took two seasons to recover from his injuries. Embiid is still in his early twenties is now ready to train with the 76ers.
Los Angeles Lakers
The Lakers got the top two draft pick, Brandon Ingram. The 18-year-old rookie is well known for his three-point shots although observers believe he also has the talent for driving the ball. A number of NBA fans are already comparing him to Golden State Warrior player Kevin Durant.
Minnesota Timberwolves
The Timberwolves won the Rookie of the Year for two years running now. Team management is hoping that its latest draft pick, Kris Dunn will win the rookie award. He was the fifth draft pick this year. Team coach Tom Thibodeau is well aware of Dunn's capacity and talent. His shot for being top rookie this year is quite possible.
New Orleans Pelicans
Top six draft pick Buddy Hield goes to the New Orleans Pelicans. The 22-year-old spent four years in college basketball. Pelican coach Alvin Gentry is reportedly grooming him to be one of the team's distant shooter. He is generally characterized as an aggressive player which is probably what the Pelicans need for the summer season.
Aside from the above mention, top three and four draft picks Jaylen Brown and Dragan Bender are also among the favorites in getting the 2016-2017 Kia Rookie of the Year Award.
