Facebook's Ad Targeting System Convinces Whatsapp To Start Sharing User Data

Whatsapp sold to Facebook and it made a lot of noise in 2014, and now it seems that these two social networking tycoons are creating a buzz again.

It wasn't that long when whatsapp was just scrutinized for its encryption flaw. Today, they have managed to make it to the news after announcing their latest change in their privacy policy. They may have added an end-to-end encryption to prevent marketing mad men from snooping and reading our messages, Whatsapp is bowing out of their promise to keep their users' data private.

It appears that Mark Zuckerberg and Jan Koum are reaping major benefits from the Facebook and Whatsapp merger. is becoming more and more lucrative for Mark Zuckerberg and Jan Koum.

Whatsapp will start sharing some user data, specifically phone numbers, with Facebook to aid in its ad-targeting scheme. As we all know, Facebook's data mining efforts is directly aligned to their objective which is to monetize through harvesting the personal data of their subscribers.

Facebook-owned messaging titan has always prided themselves into putting great effort in perfecting their user's privacy, but their most recent business decision has left a bad taste in the mouths of many Whatsapp users. Facebook and Whatsapp claims that this move is only to improve and make the experience better for the user in terms of offering better friend suggestions, presentation of more relevant ads, and to better fight spam.

These all sounds promising, but unfortunately the data sharing isn't just exclusive to Facebook. Facebook family of companies will also have access to the information shared by Whatsapp, and that means user data will also be fed to a photo-sharing network - instagram - that facebook acquired and VR firm Oculus Rift as well.

It seems that the is unstoppable, but sources say users have 30 days to opt out from it.
