While Android and iPhone players are mostly enjoying the Pokemon Go craze, Windows mobile users however are left curious and struggling to get into the game. The unavailability of Pokemon Go for Windows mobile certainly pushed developer Stefano Tenuta to make efforts to bring the Pokemon Go experience to Windows phone users. He made this possible through the PoGo-UWP.
According to Business Insider, Tenuta cited three reasons for this endeavor. Firstly, he wants to learn new things. Secondly, he said that it is possible. Thirdly, Microsoft rejected his job application citing the lack of showing enough passion as the main reason. Tenuta was motivated to prove them wrong. PoGo-UWP stands for Pokemon Go-Universal Windows Platform.
Since the PoGo is a client for Niantic's Pokemon Go game, it gives its players the opportunity to play in exactly the same game environment with those players who are using an Android or iOS devices, through its connections to the main Pokemon Go servers. Players can use PoGo-UWP to play on their PCs which runs on Windows 10.
How to use it?
First, the player has to create an account for the game through the Pokemon Trainer Club Account. Second, since the PoGo-UWP cannot let the player select their first Pokemon, then the player has to access an iPhone or Android phone in order to load up the game for the first time. The player can also use Bluestacks that has to be installed in their PC for them to get started. The player may then logout from their account.
According to Github, the player has to change their storage settings from SD Card to phone storage, and enable Device Portal. Next, they have to navigate to apps on Device Portal. Then, they should choose PokemonGo-UWP_version.appx under Install App. The next step is to click Add Dependency twice and add the files that are contained inside Dependencies folder. After which, they may click Go under Deploy and wait until the word 'Done' is shown. The app can then be launch on the device, and the player may log-in to his account.
