Arguably, FitBit is one of the most popular choices when it comes to purchasing fitness trackers. While this is for good reason, there are plenty of other options for interested buyers. Each one has had its own niche to fill, but FitBit is not sitting idly by. The company has improved the FitBit Charge and the FitBit Flex, making both models even more impressive than they initially were.
Added Features
According To Fast Company, a new Cardio Fitness Level function has been added to the wearables. What this feature does, is tell the wearer whether or not they are fit for someone their age.
So, as opposed to the typical heart rate, calories lost and number steps taken than other fitness trackers provide, FitBit has found a way to make it a little bit more personal for each user. Another thing is Guided Breathing, which times a rest period for the user. Reportedly, this is perfect for meditations between work - there are even visual animations that help lower heart rate.
Of course, there are also other specific changes made to these second generation wearables from the company.
FitBit Charge 2
Receiving a facelift in terms of its display, the FitBit Charge 2 now sports a display that is four times larger than the original. This alone provides more notifications for the wearer, as well as a number clock.
The available band options are also interchangeable, allowing users to easily swap bands. This not only makes it more personal, but users can also change bands as a repair option should it brea.
On the other hand, the FitBit Flex 2 is roughly 30 percent smaller than the original. However, it is now waterproof, which means wearers can sport the device during laps or even in the ocean.
What This Means For The Company
As Wall Street Journal points out, the updated devices have provided FitBit with a 2 percent stock increase. This number while relatively small, is a large jump from the 18 percent deficit the company experienced upon the release of the Blaze smartwatch.
This could mean that the company will continue to improve on its current roster of items, as it is proving to be a better course of action.
