Samsung: Next Generation Stylus Pen Patent File Surfaces; To Come with NFC, Headset And More

It seems like South Korean tech consumer electronics goods manufacturer Samsung is not over yet with the entire spotlight it has drawn recently with the launch of the most awaited smartphone of the year - the Galaxy S3.

This can be assumed as the popular smartphone maker is in news again. But this time it has begun the center of subject for tech gossipers for another device - and that is Samsung's S-Pen, which the company manufactures for its touchscreen tablets including the Galaxy Note.

Recently, BGR report has claimed that Samsung has submitted a patent before the USPTO, which has revealed that the company might have already developed the second generation of its famed S Pen stylus. The new device is rumored to come equipped with a clip that will serve as a headset offering to make calls without an earpiece.

Meanwhile, the first S Pen is found on the Galaxy Note 5.3" phone, but the patent reveals many more features that might be coming for the next Note or tablets like the Galaxy Note 10.1 that might use it.

The next S Pen is bound to have NFC connectivity, and a built-in clip for voice communication, like the stylus on the Asus PadFone, which can be used as a headset for talks.

What's more, there will be a conductive ePen Grip rubbery material towards the tip, which will send a micro-current from the user's body to the capacitive display, thus fooling it that it is touched with a finger, and eliminating or reducing the lag that is often associated with these styli.

The new stylus pen apparently uses the micro-current of the human body to allow the multi-touch screen to think it's a finger. This translates into the stylus pen having the same fluidity as you would get using your finger on a multi-touch tablet yet with a finger tip.

This could take out some of the lag that is traditionally associated with older generations of stylus pens.

Well, even the Cupertino tech giant Apple is reportedly rumored to be working on several extremely high-end smart pen concepts of their own, however, the recent patent which has surfaced online proves that it is Samsung which is actually bringing the stylus pen back to the marketplace.
