There is no shortage of opinion on the iPhone 7. But whether or not the device is loathed or hated, made fun of or praised, Apple clearly produced a successful phone. Despite the negative backlash, a great number of people are still eager to get their hands on the unit. And yet, looking deeper at the release is even more exciting.
Starting It Slow
The new iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus sport a capacitive button instead of the physical home button. AS GSM Arena notes, the new feature specifically makes use of a 3D touch button. This is a first in Apple's history and could very well indicate how willing Apple is to get rid of the home button altogether.
This does not just apply to the home button, of course. It is possible that, as Apple perfects the technology, that the iPhone 8 will have no buttons whatsoever.
Another thing that Apple is warming up to the public is its adoption of an AMOLED screen. While some expected the technology to arrive in the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus, Apple showed up with a much brighter LCD screen instead. It is clear, however, that Apple has the capacity to brighten displays, so it is exciting to see just how clear things will become when the company finally adopts the AMOLED technology for the iPhone 8.
Looking at Apple's other reveal - the Apple Watch Series 2 - and its ceramic design, it can be theorized that the Cupertino-based company is testing out just what materials work best for the public.
Testing Out Innovations
Waterproof units are not new to the market, but it is new to Apple. And while the innovation has proven itself popular, the company still needs to test exactly how the feature will react with its own handhelds. Which is why the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus are waterproof and the upcoming iPhone 8 is likely to be the same.
Another is the controversial lack of 3.5mm audio jacks. It is unsure whether or not the iPhone 8 will carry on the new tradition. It will depend on how the public reacts to the Air Pods upon the release of the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus to the market.
