‘Van Helsing’ Season 1 Spoilers: Show Set In Post Apocalyptic Time; Two Types Of Vampires Revealed

The spoilers for Season 1 of SyFy's "Van Helsing" are out, and it looks like it is going to be much dreary and darker.

Kelly Overton of "True Blood" will play the titular character Vanessa Van Helsing, who wakes up from a coma completely oblivious from the natural catastrophe that led to the vampire uprising.

According to DenofGeek, the show is going to be set in the year 2019 in which a Volcanic eruption led to a vampire pandemic. This leaves the world in a post-apocalyptic state overrun by bloodthirsty vampires. Think "Mad Max" meets "The Walking Dead."

Vampires have gotten a lot of changes throughout cinematic and TV history. Some of which are really spine chilling while others are just plain head-scratchers. So how will the new "Van Helsing" take this classic character?

According to spoilers at Lbtimes, the show will have two types of vampires. The first are the vampires who have lived very long and has already evolved to live amongst us. And the second type is called ferals, meaning that they are not accustomed to humans and have been in the wild most of their lives.

With all of these juicy spoilers, it looks like its going to be an interesting season 1 for horror fans.

According to the official synopsis of the TV series:

"Van Helsing reimagines the timeless Dracula brand with the resurrection of Vanessa Van Helsing, a descendant of the Van Helsing lineage of warriors who now must lead mankind against a world controlled by vampires in the post-Rising landscape. After a catastrophic event, the last remaining underground vampires overtake America and Vanessa Van Helsing is resurrected as the final hope to save the world."

"Van Helsing" will air on Sept. 23 on SyFy.
