A previous version of the story had a misspelled word in the headline which states Connor O'Brien. This has been corrected to Conan O'Brien.
Apple has yet again has taken us far and beyond with its new wireless Bluetooth headphones technology - the Airpods. The latest breakthrough caught the attention of many - including Conan O'Brien's late night team.
Apple's advertising in 2000 cannot simply get better attention. On Wednesday night, Conan O'Brien aired a parody commercial starring Apple's Airpod. Conan featured the iconic silhouettes dancing with their iPod MP3 players when suddenly the headphones have been ejected in the middle of a head bob or a spin.
This may come in a bit of an embarrassment to Apple however it proves practical points. Since the launch of iPod, it's been 15 years since customers have started plugging devices into 3.5- and 6.5-mm jacks. This year, Apple dreamt for a unique change. However, the changes may post challenges to its loyal users in terms of the realities involved in using wireless headphones- its limits clearly including dancing.
The Airpod technology certainly holds promise of Apple's ingenuity. However, the opinions, worries, and even jokes about its practicality make sense. Many of its customers fear that the wireless earphones may get lost easily, fall off gutters, or even get eaten by pets. Hence, needing to replace them again.
Simply put, the Airpods lack the traditional headphone jack. The product costs $159 plus tax, the parody closes with a tag line "Airpods: Wireless. Expensive. Lost."
The Airpods were launched with the iPhone 7 at an event hosted by company CEO Tim Cook last week.
As of now, Apple has not confirmed any exact wireless protocol about the Airpods except that they are run on a new W1 wireless chip. The Airpod is nonetheless compatible with iPhone 5 and up, iPad mini2 and up, Apple Watch Series 1, and Macs.
The Airpod technology may post many hesitations to Apple fans but it certainly carries its own ingenuity and advantages that may still be appealing to many.
