'Rick and Morty' Season 3 Release Date, Spoilers: To Air Before 2017? Longer Episodes Expected

It seems that "Rick and Morty" fans should wait for a few more months for its much anticipated third season. The question now is when will it finally air?

On the last episode of "Rick and Morty" season 2, Mr. Poopy Butthole told the viewers that he will be seeing them in a year and a half. The show ended Oct. 4, 2015, which means that "Rick and Morty" season 3 premiere episode might arrive sometime in March 2017.

But during the Magic City Comic-Con in January, the co-creator of the hit adult animated sitcom, Dan Harmon, said that the upcoming season might air before 2016 ends, which led to fans hoping for an earlier release date.

Harmon made this statement at a time when the possibilities seemed endless. However, he later suddenly changed his prior plan when he admitted that the production for the third season was more challenging than the former seasons.

Apparently, the reasons behind this are the number of episodes "Rick and Morty" season 3 will have and the production team's professionalism which fuels their desire to make the best out of the upcoming episodes. It is said that season 3 will feature 14 episodes, compared to the 10-11 episodes of the previous seasons.

On a positive note, this means that "Rick and Morty" fans surely have a lot of things to look forward to in the next season. According to some spoilers, as reported by Geek, Rick will be out of the Galactic prison as soon as the first episode airs and will most likely be busted out of the place by his ex-wife. Some reports also claim that his granddaughter Summer will have a major role in season 3, together with Evil Morty. Beth and Jerry's divorce might be discussed, too.

In terms of other "Rick and Morty" season 3 updates, there is an ongoing debate whether or not the production team should include an episode involving Interdimensional Cable. Sure, some fans loved the idea and found it entertaining, but a huge number of viewers are said to complain that the plot lacks the sci-fi feel and high-concept ideas the show is famous for.

There's still no official release date for "Rick and Morty" season 3, but fans are hoping that it will be worth the long wait.
