The Sony Xperia X Compact is coming to the United States. Sony's compact Xperia smartphones have been popular, and it is expected that the Xperia X Compact would be just as popular as well. How it compares with another compact smartphone, Apple's iPhone SE, is something that many would want to know.
The Sony Xperia X Compact is said to be coming to the U.S. this September 25, according to GSM Arena. Pre-orders for the smartphone are already being accepted. The Sony Xperia X Compact has been out in some territories already. The Xperia X Compact is available for pre-order on Amazon.
The U.S. version of the Sony Xperia X Compact has its fingerprint scanner disabled, as noted by Phone Arena. In Europe, though the fingerprint scanner is enabled. This should be noted by those who would want to have the smartphone in the U.S. The U.S. version has specs similar specs to that of other Xperia X Compact units elsewhere.
Its specs are what one would expect from a high-end smartphone. Even if it's compact, it shares almost the same specs that one would find in a regular Sony Xperia X phone and certainly a match for the iPhone SE. One of the features it shares with its larger counterpart is the 23 MP rear camera. This is over and above the camera of the iPhone SE which is only 12 MP.
Another advantage it has over the iPhone SE is its front 5 MP camera, while the iPhone SE only has 1.2 MP for its front camera. The 23 MP rear camera in itself is already enough, however, as it is the superior camera that people have seen at least as far back as the Sony Xperia Z5 line of smartphones.
For storage, the Sony Xperia X Compact has 32 GB of internal storage. Though the iPhone SE has a choice of either a 16GB or a 64GB internal storage as noted by Trusted Reviews, the Xperia X Compact can have its storage expanded through microSD, a feature that so far Apple has not employed on the iPhone. The Sony Xperia X Compact could be expanded up to 256GB on microSD.
The Sony Xperia X Compact should be able to handle apps better as well with 3 GB of RAM as opposed to the iPhone SE which only has 2 GB RAM.
Overall then the Sony Xperia X Compact is a very good choice for those who would want to have a high-end smartphone in a compact package. It is much larger than the iPhone SE with a 4.6-inch display screen compared to the iPhone SE's 4-inch display. The Xperia X Compact then is compact enough without being too small. The Sony Xperia X Compact would sell at $500 on Amazon, though there is a $50 credit on checkout, bringing the price to $450 in total.
