New Google Trips App Launched For Android, iOS Devices; The Future Of Travel Planning

Today, Google is launching a new mobile app, aimed at helping you make better plans for your vacations, getaways, and other travels. Called Google Trips, the iOS and Android app pulls in a mix of data from Google Maps and crowdsourced contributions from other travelers, in order to come up with a personalized travel guide that helps you monitor your day trips, reservations, points of interest, vacation destinations, restaurants and so much more.

Google Launches Google Trips

We already have hinted that Google was working on a travel application, thanks to a leak earlier this year when the app was being tested inside Google's Local Guides community. Local Guides help to improve and enhance Google Maps and business data by posting reviews, managing listings, and taking photos. In return, they gain exclusive access to try out new Google products and features, such as the latest Google Trips.

Make planning trips a lot easier

The home screen includes a search box with a where would you like to go? prompt for planning new trips, and other cards let you monitor your present and upcoming getaways and plans. What's useful is that every city you plan to visit during one of your trips can each have its own tab inside the larger "Trip" section, and with a straightforward toggle switch, you can download all the information there is about that location for offline access.

Google's catch

While the new application will be valuable for travelers, it will likewise serve as another method for data collection for Google itself, which will have the capacity to better increase its business listings data in Google Maps with the information gathered by the app and its users.

Google Trips is already available for Android and iOS

Google Trips is live now on Android and iOS. In addition to Trips, Google has additionally now launched its Destinations search feature on the desktop worldwide, after its mobile debut this March.
