Microsoft released a brand new feature phone when Microsoft fans were hoping it was the Surface phone. Unfortunately, Microsoft is sticking with the schedule it seems to have set for the 2017 Surface Phone release.
Microsoft And Nokia Deal
Back in 2013, Microsoft acquired Nokia; the Redmond-based tech company paid Nokia a total of $7.2 Billion and laid off a total of 7,800 people in the process. Microsoft began to explore the field of mobile phones after the acquisition of the Finnish mobile giant. Nokia released its first GSM phone in 1992 and after the first one came out, they just kept churning out one phone after another.
Microsoft Talo Formerly Known As The Nokia House
The Nokia House, now known as Microsoft Talo, used to be big like the Apple brand, but then the iPhone came waltzing in and stole the hearts of many forgetting the first brand to introduce us to the world of cellphones. Nokia has been out of the picture for a while, but Microsoft recently launched a new feature phone, the Nokia 216.
Microsoft Gives Nokia Its Final Hurrah
As iTech Post previously reported, the launch Microsoft gave for Nokia isn't so much as a welcome back, but more of a last hurrah for the brand. Nokia is throwing in the towel and the Nokia 216 is the last feature phone the firm will ever use that is from Nokia.
Microsoft Releases Nokia 216 Specs And Features
Microsoft is set to release Nokia 216 specs and features, but details won't be disclosed until after the regulatory scrutiny for the feature phone is over. Microsoft is set to release the Nokia 216 on October and there are rumors that we can all expect the last Nokia feature phone to keep its classic look. Engadget notes that the Nokia 216 will come with a QVGA screen display and a VGA camera. We will soon find out the rest of its features by next month.
Microsoft did Nokia a favor for letting them produce one last feature phone before they draw the curtains and the credits start rolling.
