'Thor: Ragnarok' Cast News, Updates: Sam Neill Confirms Role in 'Thor' Trilogy Finale

Marvel Studios apparently is trying to go out with a bang with the last installment of its "Thor" film series. The studio is pulling out all the stops bringing an outstanding host of actors and actresses that promise to bring the film both entertainment and depth.

In "Thor: Ragnarok," Chris Hemsworth and Tom Hiddleston will reprise their roles for one last time as the belligerent brother duo of Asgard. Anthony Hopkins also returns as Odin. Mark Ruffalo will be the Hulk once more. Karl Urban, of "Lord of the Rings" and "Star Trek" fame, will play as "Skurge."

Cate Blanchett, known for her role as Galadriel, this time dons the villain's mantle becoming Marvel's first lead female antagonist "Hela," while Jeff Goldblum plays the character known as "The Grandmaster." Rumor has it that there might be a cameo from Benedict Cumberbatch as Doctor Strange.

From this rich ensemble, another great actor has been confirmed to join the "Thor: Ragnarok" cast: Sam Neill.

The New Zealand actor became a household name back in the nineties when he left an indelible mark in the smash hit "Jurassic Park." He also played a key role in "Hunt of the Red October." He gave life to the brilliant science-fiction horror film, "Event Horizon." His acting also received critical acclaim in Jane Campion's "The Piano."

Reports say that Neill is probably just a cameo in the film but hopefully long enough for him to spend some screentime with fellow "Jurassic Park" alumni Jeff Goldblum.

Neil had this to say about his role: " I'm not really allowed to say this and I can't tell you what it is... I did a couple of days on Thor just before I came over here. If I say anything else, Marvel's secret agents  --  and they are lethal  -- will come and get me and probably my children, as well."

"Thor: Ragnarok" arrives in theaters Nov. 3, 2017 and will be one of the set pieces for Marvel for its finale: "Infinity Wars."
