Windows 10 Improves Product Security, AI To Further Improve Company

Windows 10 is getting even better, as Microsoft has just proven at a conference held in Atlanta. The inclusion of the Windows Defender Application Guard, which will be ready for the public by next year, will enhance the security features of all devices. Meanwhile, the company is also spending this time to figure out exactly how artificial intelligence can best be applied on a wider scale.

The Windows Defender Application Guard

As reported by Tech Republic, Yusuf Mehdi, Microsoft's corporate vice president of the Windows and devices group, was the one who conducted the demo. Reportedly, the Defender Guard will add container-based isolation to the Edge browser. With this addition, Windows 10 can protect firms against attacks that would not have been picked up by Windows 7.

Mehdi admitted that the browser is still one of the most insecure aspects of a notebook. "There have been a lot of software-based-sandboxes to help protect the browser," she said. "But they still provide a pathway for malware and vulnerability exploits."

Theoretically, the harder shelled container that will arrive with the Windows 10 update, will offer better protection.

The Application Of Artificial Intelligence

In the same conference and as noted by Tech Crunch, Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella discussed how artificial intelligence could transform the company as a whole.

"AI is at the intersection of our ambitions," he said.

Of course, Microsoft is already applying AI to various applications, the most popular of which is Cortana, the company's version of a digital assistant. But the Nadella is aware there is so much more to learn. He envisions a digital assistant that "can take text input, can take speech input, that knows [you] deeply."

However, in order for this to be a reality, Nadella acknowledges the fact that Cortana will need to be available in various other platforms - including those not controlled by Microsoft.

"'What societal problem - what industry - will you reshape?' That's really what we dream about," he said. "We want to democratize AI just like we brought information to your fingertips."
