Rumor mills are working extra time for generating news of Apple's next generation iPhone. After one week of silence, the next generation iPhone, popularly dubbed as iPhone 5, is again in the news. The current rumor talks about a few exclusive photos of the iPhone 5 engineering sample that were leaked from a factory in China and show the new phone will be slightly taller with larger display, slightly thinner and will have almost the same width of its predecessor.
The news posted on Tuesday on GottaBeMobile website adds support to earlier rumors about a larger display iPhone 5 that's expected to be released this year. The news, moreover, adds that the engineering sample of the iPhone 5 is 120 millimeters tall, whereas Apple's current iPhone measures 115.2 millimeters in height. But the new iPhone will be 58.6 millimeters wide like iPhone 4 and iPhone 4S, reveals the website. While the new iPhone 5 will be taller than the 4S, it will still remain smaller than leading Android smartphones like Samsung's Galaxy S3 and HTC One X, predicts GottaBeMobile.
According to the website, the rear-facing camera will remain in the same place in the iPhone 5 and will be almost of the same size like the 4S' but a rear-facing microphone will find a place between the camera and flash which will record video and reduce noise.
Moreover, the leaked images indicate that the iPhone 5 will come with two materials on the back while the middle part could possibly be made of metal, the top and bottom of the device could feature glass, plastic, or something completely different material.
A trusted source inside the Apple supply chain sent images of the metal iPhone 5 design sample. The metal block shows the size of the iPhone 5, where the antenna and ports will be and other design aspects.
The new iPhone is likely to maintain the iPhone 4S' re-designed antenna layout, GottaBeMobile says.
The most-awaited and much-hyped phone of the year, Apple's iPhone 5, will be debuting alongside iOS 6 this fall.
