Samsung has just experienced turmoil as some of its new Galaxy Note 7 phablets was found out to have exploding batteries. Now, the company faces another exploding problem with its washing machines.
One incident was when a mom in Georgia was getting the clothes from the dryer when she heard an explosion. Her dryer was made by Samsung.
Another incident was with a woman who thought that something crashed into the roof. It turns out that it was her washing machine. What made it worse is that there were metal shards which flew all over the place, ripping holes in the wall.
A federal class-action lawsuit has been filed against the South Korean tech giant last August. According to investigations, washing machines can go on a turbulent and uncontrollable process due to the strong vibrations that causes it to "become unfastened, resulting in a dramatic centrifugal explosion that destroys the machine and nearby property."
Exploding Samsung Washing Machines
The lawsuit also states that Samsung has already known of this problem for many years now, but still remained to keep it a secret. The plaintiffs are three women from Texas who demands Samsung to release safety warnings regarding its washing machines' problems and risks.
The commission stated in a statement that it is "actively and cooperatively working with Samsung to address safety issues related to certain top-load washing machines made between March 2011 and April 2016."
Samsung also stated that the incidents are rare and that the defective washing machines "may experience abnormal vibrations that could pose a risk of personal injury or property damage." The company also assured customers that, "(Your) safety is our top concern."
With this, Samsung must see to it that the incidents are isolated and that this will not happen to the other products that it offers to the public. This is for the sake of the company's slowly crumbling reputation.
