Samsung Galaxy S8 Leak: Next Flagship to be a VR Solution?

Details of the Samsung Galaxy S8 are starting to leak, the latest of which might have just painted what the next flagship's biggest advantage will be.

The latest Samsung Galaxy S8 leak indicated that the South Korean company's next flagship will be a virtual reality (VR) powerhouse. This is based on the other leaked specifications so far.

Samsung Galaxy S8 Rumored Specs

As per Forbes, the Samsung Galaxy S8 is going to house some powerful specs, including an ARM Mali-471 graphics chip paired with an octa-core Snapdragon SoC. The former is one of the most powerful GPU in the market today and while the CPU is still not yet determined, it is expected to be the latest from Qualcomm, perhaps the next-generation Snapdragon 830.

To top it off, a display with 4K resolution is reportedly in the pipelines as well. With these ingredients, many noted that Samsung is brewing a flagship with advanced VR capabilities.

Other rumored specs include a curved screen only variant, which effectively ditches the flat screen, and a dual camera set-up like in the iPhone 7 Plus, LG V20 and other flagship smartphones from other companies.

There are also speculations suggesting that Samsung might take a page from Apple's iPhone 7 and oust the 3.5mm headphone jack, but that remains to be seen.

Next Phone is Overpowered?

However, there are reports casting some doubts over the leaked specs. According to some, the Samsung Galaxy S8 might be overpowered for the casual user. These high-tech specs are too much for the average consumer, which may affect sales.

Nonetheless, it is expected that Samsung will up their game and push for a flagship that is more technologically advanced than its competitors. Especially now that the tech giant is facing huge scandals following exploding batteries and washing machines.

The Samsung Galaxy S8 is pegged for an early 2017 launch.
