Pre-Recorded Videos Can Now Be Uploaded On Twitch; Are They Aiming To Be Like YouTube?

Livestream gameplay has always been Twitch's main market, but the company is looking to expand its field of operation. Twitch just announced an open beta of the site that lets you upload pre-recorded videos, much like the biggest platform for video media YouTube.

Anyone Can Now Stand Out On Twitch

According to a blog post by Twitch, Uploads Open Beta is their new way to shape the future of uploads on Twitch. It's the best place to find streamers and their communnities but not everyone may be too keen on building a new stream channel. With their new Beta platform "anyone can stand out".

"When you upload a video, you don't have to be on your toes, live on-stream. Anyone can record and edit full game playthroughs, step-by-step tutorials, highlight reels, montages, or any other videos that now have a home on Twitch", says Product Marketing Manager Noreen McInnis. She also added the new feature allows current streamers to download their past broadcasts and highlights, and use them to create content and new videos anyone can share with their viewers and followers even when they're not streaming or offline.

It's a new open beta focused "on open outreach" to the entire Twitch community, not just streamers, but followers whose account's sole purpose is to watch streams can be able to participate in making content as well. Twitch wishes to recieve feedback from its community so they could further enhance and develop Twitch Uploads, and advises users to stay tuned for more updates. As of now, they are currently planning to add more features like a user chat and many more. And according to Twitch, they are committed into improving the beta for everyone.
