Google just launched the Pixel and Pixel XL on Tuesday with three color options: Quite Black, Very Silver and Really Blue. With these rather interesting and unique color names, the internet could not help but poke fun at it.
Twitter Had a Blast
Fans who watched the Made by Google event on Tuesday took to Twitter to express their opinion at the new Pixel and Pixel XL color options.
"Okay so the color names for Googles Pixel phone are absurd," the user Adam noted. "I'm looking for kinda-sorta off-white."
Naming the Pixel and Pixel XL colors sarcastically would understandably generate sarcastic comments from the consumers. It is unknown if this is the kind of reaction that the search engine giant is aiming for, but if it is, then they sure were successful.
Another Twitter user Ethan also joked that Google's naming committee is the meme Doge, which talks in a nonsense and descriptive manner. The most popular line of the meme is, "Much wow."
Pixel, Pixel XL Specs
Jokes aside, Google has outdone itself on their new set of phones. Ditching the Nexus brand, the Pixel and Pixel XL sport high-end specs that can battle with the top flagships today, Samsung's Galaxy S7 and Note 7 and Apple's iPhone 7 and 7 Plus.
The Pixel sports a 5-inch 1080p display. Underneath is a Qualcomm Snapdragon 821 with an Adreno 530 GPU and 4GB of RAM. It has a 12MP camera at the back and 8MP selfie snapper at the front. It also comes in 32GB or 128GB memory configurations.
The Pixel XL, on the other hand, has a 5.5-inch 1,440p screen. Specs under the hood are essentially the same as the Pixel's, even the cameras and memory options.
The smaller sibling's cheapest option is priced at $649, while the most affordable of the bigger one is at $769.
Quirky their color names may be, but the Pixel and Pixel XL has already sold out a few hours after pre-orders opened. Among Quite Black, Very Silver and Really Blue, the latter is proving to be the most popular option.
