Jade Empire, BioWare's impressive role-playing game, has rolled out on the App Store, sharpening the kung-fu skills of gamers set in a mystical place patterned after Imperial China.
Released more than ten years ago, Jade Empire was over-shadowed by the prestige of Bioware's other game: Mass Effect. Although when checked out, it still falls not short of excellent. Fortunately, for those who have and haven't experienced the game back in the days - it was 10 years ago, you don't have to dig up your garage or climb to your attic to dust off that Xbox just to play the game. Jade Empire is currently available in the app store, so all you have to do is reach into your pocket and download.
According to Game Rant, hints have been shown for its release, as it has been clued as a 'mystery game'. Though cloaked in uncertainty, people already have guessed that it was indeed Jade Empire.
The title for the App Store, however, will be Jade Empire: Special Edition. As the title suggests, it will have some changes, obviously. Changes like higher difficulty, more weapons, and more fighting styles have been added to the game to keep its fans at the edge of their seats. It will also feature an improved AI and improve map interface, something that wasn't readily available back then, and for those playing for the first time will not have difficulty in playing the game.
Following the footsteps on a bunch of successful BioWare RPGs, Jade Empire will not have a hard time selling itself. Although setting and style are quite a bit off when compared to its sister games (BioWare RPGs), first time players will still have a sense of familiarity.
Jade Empire's game engine have a lot of similarities Knights of the Old Republic. Also, in classic BioWare flair, there are a plethora of moral choices that would lead players to the path of either darkness or light.
What's the story about?
Jade Empire is set as a wuxia tale, a Chinese fiction that narrates about martial artists based in ancient China. All setting, philosophies, and characters all follow the roots of Chinese fiction mixed with history. Players take the role of an orphan adopted by a master of martial arts who runs a school that teaches spirituality and martial arts.
As the game progresses, so does the character from student to master, exploring how to nurture his skills in martial arts and deciding what to do with it. This game is a must for those who love kung-fu.
