MacBook Pro 2016: October 27 Release Gains More Ground

Last month, Apple introduced the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus to mixed reviews. Despite the possible disappointment, however, the tech world is still clamoring for a new and improved 2016 MacBook Pro. For better or worse, the new Apple product is apparently coming out on October 27.

Initially, it was expected that the 2016 MacBook Pro would make an appearance during Apple's September 7 event. But it came and went with no showing of the unit, which left the tech world reaching out for any news on the same. In lieu of a reveal, TechRadar notes that Apple CEO Tim Cook warned that others "stay tuned" for Mac Developments.

The publication continues on to claim that the Cupertino-based company is working on an update for its operating system and will soon be releasing macOS Sierra 10.21.1. The new OS will reportedly debut in an all-new 2016 MacBook Pro. And because the OS is set for release in late October, the new notebook is expected then as well.

The upcoming MacBook Pro, which should be the thinnest and lightest in its family, is expected to sport a new OLED touch bar. In addition, it will have four different USB-C ports and a metal hinge that is inspired by what the Microsoft Surface Book current sports. The controversial Lightning port for audio is also likely to make an appearance.

What is arguably the most exciting change to come in the 2016 MacBook Pro, however, is an updated processor. The device is likely to sport Intel's sixth generation Skylake chips, which would make the device work faster with less strain on the battery. Installing a Skylake processor also opens up the door for WiGig and WiDi short-range support, as well as high-speed data transfer and wireless charging.

As Inquisitr adds, the 2016 MacBook Pro is expected to come in a 13-inch model and a 15-inch model. Furthermore, it is also estimated that Apple is providing more color options this time around. Starting prices for the same are likely to start at US$1,099.
