While many continue to complain about StatCounter's methodology, the company claims that Google Chrome browser was the world's top browser in July.
According to StatCounter, Chrome has not only beaten Microsoft's Internet Explorer browser but also expanded its lead last month. The latest figure reveals that Chrome now has a global market share of 33.8 percent. It is a significant growth for the company as it had only 22.1 percent global market share in July 2011. Meanwhile, IE accounts for only 32 percent global share and Firefox continues to be on a steady decline. The Mozilla browser had less than 24 percent market share in July 2012, 4 percent down from what it had in July 2011. Apple's Safari comes in fourth with a mere 7.1 percent of market share.
In May, Statcounter, the website analytics company, reported that Chrome's market share went up to 32.76 percent, compared to Microsoft's share of 31.94 percent during the week of May 14 to May 20.
Internet Explorer, after ruling the U.S. market share with 45 percent and 47 percent until February 2012, suddenly started going below 40 percent. The latest report suggests that the Microsoft browser's share is still declining.
Chrome, thanks to its stability, browsing speed, streamlined, simple, and user friendly GUI, has made it to the top, believe experts. However, while Chrome is the most popular browser in South America and Asia, it still lags behind Internet Explorer in the U.S. and in the UK.
Many tech gurus are of the opinion that the primary reason for the falling status of IE is its failure to innovate and introduce new and intuitive features.
