Great news has unfolded for ultrabook users as Lenovo announced that it will make its new ThinkPad X1 Carbon available from Aug. 21.
First unveiled in May, the 18mm thick and 3-pound Carbon ultrabook touts an ultra-thin body and sports a reasonable price tag of $1399 and upwards.
Every model of the new Lenovo ultrabook range comes with a carbon fiber case, a 14-inch matte HD+ antiglare display, Intel Core i5 Ivy Bridge processor, 1600 x 900 resolution with brightness up to 300 nits, 4GB of RAM, 128 GB solid state disk, front-facing camera for video chat with 720p resolution, and Lenovo's excellent ThinkPad Precision keyboard. The base version, however, does not provide the 3G option.
The base version sports a 1.7GHz Intel Core i5 processor, while other iterations come with i5 at 1.8 GHz and i7 at 2.0GHz.
While Lenovo says that the battery will serve up to 6 hours, it also packs in the Rapid Charge feature, which fills 80 percent of the battery in 30 minutes.
On the negative side, the Carbon device has just 2 USB ports and no Ethernet jack. You'll need a USB to Ethernet adapter to plug the laptop into a wired network.
