Disney has recently announced that "High School Musical 4" is currently in the works. Fans of the movie were delighted by the recent announcement. However, it seemed short lived. Disney mentioned that the fourth installment of the franchise will feature new cast members.
"High School Musical is part of Disney Channel's DNA," Disney Channel President Gary Marsh said. "It embodies all that we stand for. As a way of continuing to embrace that heritage, we're excited to announce 'the start of something new' as we launch a search for a new class of East High Wildcats to star in a fourth installment of the 'High School Musical' franchise."
But, in a report by E! News, there was a mini reunion between the former Wildcats recently. Zac Efron who played the lead character Troy attended Corbin Bleu's "Holiday Inn Musical" show along with co-star Lucas Grabeel.
Grabeel even posted a photo of them with the caption, "Just a couple of wildcats on a #Broadway stage. @corbinbleu killed it last night in #HollidayInnMusical! @ZacEfron So much love for these guys."
Due to this recent post, speculations are high that the original cast members will appear alongside the new ones on "High School Musical 4."
Zac Efron and Vanessa Hudgens who played the role of Gabriella was reported to get married in the upcoming movie. The ex-couple has agreed to reprise the role and some fans think that the two will be parents to Peyton who will be the lead character in the upcoming movie.
Aside from getting married and being parents, Troy is also expected to be the latest coach for the new Wildcats while Gabriella will be the one to handle the Glee club of the school.
Fans are super excited for this news, however, the ex-couple has not commented on their upcoming reunion. "High School Musical 4" is slated to be released in 2018.
