Just when we got Samsung's confirmation that the company will release the next-generation Galaxy Note smartphone on Aug. 29, Samsung Pakistan's official Facebook page on Wednesday (Aug. 8) posted an image of a yet-to-be-seen phone with the caption "Picture perfect view made even more perfect with Samsung Galaxy S3."
Folks at Engadget identified that the picture uploaded by Pakistan's Samsung is the one that was touted as the potential GS3 before the launch of the phone.
While we are still unsure as to why someone from the official Samsung website will publish a fake image, Engadget believes that the image is indeed that of the Galaxy Note 2 that we are expecting to see later this month. Meanwhile, Samsung changed the caption to "Galaxy Note" and after deleting and reloading the image a few times, it has finally pulled down the photograph.
Earlier this month, Samsung officially announced that "We plan to unveil the next Galaxy Note at the Samsung Mobile Unpacked event in Berlin on August 29."
South Korean media reports claim that the latest Note 2 will pack in an unbreakable 5.5-inch display with high resolution Super AMOLED variety. The phone may come with higher WSXGA+ resolution (1680 x 1050 pixels) with 360ppi pixel density. The next generation phablet is also expected to feature a better and more powerful quad-core processor, 2 GB of RAM, Android's latest Jelly Bean operating system, 4G connectivity as standard for all international units, an improved battery, and a 12 megapixel primary camera with an enhanced sensor.
