A Whole New 3D Experience Unveils in Microsoft's New Paint Feature

After decades on taking a back seat, a 30-year old app makes a comeback. Microsoft's remake on Paint app for Windows now supports 3D objects, stickers and other creative tools.

A leaked video of Microsoft was posted by Twitter user @WalkingCat demonstrating a tutorial for the new Paint. It shows the new and improved version of Microsoft 10 Paint app having the ability to draw in 3D. While the enhanced feature of the apps takes you to an advanced level, it still retains its basic paint feature which has been there for more than 30 years.

Microsoft will be launching its upgraded Windows 10 on October 26 in New York. Although the new app is only available to alpha test users, it may get its full attention in the launching. However, it is not clear yet whether the new Paint app will be introduced during the event. The uploaded video tutorial features painting tools supporting pen and touchscreen for editing and staging scenes, 3D creation viewable from different angles, 2D objects and freehand drawing features.

The impressive demo showing the 3D design's functionality is similar to Oculus Quill or Vive Tilt Brush. "The timing of the Paint videos come just hours after Microsoft revealed planning to hold a special event in New York is later this month. Microsoft is widely expected to unveil a new Surface device at the event, with rumors suggesting it will be an all-in-one desktop PC," according to The Verge.

The Verge's Microsoft sources said, "Any potential AIO PC will be aimed at creatives. Microsoft is said to be working on software and hardware that will enhance the use of stylus, touch, and traditional inputs on a full desktop PC. Microsoft's new Paint app for Windows 10 will play into this plan, alongside apps from third parties. Any potential Surface hardware will compliment the company's software improvements." It's not yet known whether Paint will be released as a standalone app or a part of the Windows update.
