The Windows Phone 8 release juggernaut seems to roll on tirelessly. Per latest reports, a legitimate memo from a Microsoft hardware partner has specified a launch date - late September - for the eagerly-awaited operating system.
This is not the first time that Windows Phone 8 has been tipped for a September release. Previous rumors have indicated that an RTM of the software is expected to arrive in September, with the release of devices slated for November this year, in time for the holiday season.
Moreover, rumors have also pointed to an early launch of certain HTC Windows Phone 8 devices that are said to be arriving in September. Nokia is also expected to unveil devices running Microsoft's new and updated platform at Nokia World next month.
Recently, Pocketnow received a memo from a tipster which specified that the "initial announcement embargo date" of Windows Phone 8 will be on September 30, 2012. However, the date mentioned could turn out to be yet another hoax as it's a Sunday, but it's a distinct possibility that the embargo time could be just before midnight (something like 11:59PM, September 30), allowing news of the Windows Phone 8 launch to arrive for the start of the day on Monday, October 1.
"It's conceivable that Microsoft will use Nokia World in early September to outline the consumer-facing features of Windows Phone 8, and that later that month, on September 30/October 1, they will offer further information about the exact timing of other hardware releases and when people can actually purchase the new devices," the report states
