The Windows Phone 8 rumor cycle has received a fresh round of information. Per latest reports, some of Nokia's upcoming Windows Phone 8 devices are already out and the company has been distributing them to some of the best Windows Phone developers around.
The reports state that Nokia has been providing this new hardware to developers identified as "VIPs", based on the efforts they put in towards releasing Windows Phone 7 apps. One main reason why we haven't seen many leaks of these models is supposedly owing to the privacy policies under which Microsoft and Nokia distributed the gear. The companies have also discouraged developers from sharing any info on the unreleased hardware.
"Neowin has learned today that Microsoft has given heavily guarded Windows Phone 8 handsets to developers that were identified as "star developers" or "VIP's" during the Windows Phone 7 lifecycle," states a report by the site. "These developers have been given early access to handsets to begin development on the promise that they have an application ready for launch."
"It may seem logical, but multiple sources have confirmed that a number of handsets are in the wild but are under strict monitoring conditions. We don't know for certain, but these are supposedly early Nokia prototypes, very similar to the current Lumia range," the report adds.
However, the Windows Phone 8 rumor mill doesn't stop here. Another report states that the Windows Phone 8 SDK's public availability could start around September 7. The WPCentral report asserts that Microsoft is withholding details of the Windows Phone sessions planed for TechEd Australia, because that's when it will first make the SDK available to its developer community.
However, nothing can be said with certainty at the moment and we will have to wait a tad longer to find out what's in store.
