Google is looking to introduce a host of features in its Google Play store, revealed a recent report. Additionally, a set of images and code have divulged that Google is soon set to add gift cards and wishlists to the service.
Android Police was the first to discover and consequently went on to reveal the code. The code includes graphics and links for redeeming gift cards and even maintaining a "Google Play balance". If the reports turns out to be true, it could be counted as the next major step taken by Google to provide some feature uniformity with Apple's iTunes Store.
"What I found inarguably points to Google gearing up to finally release redeemable Play Store gift cards - something we've been anxiously waiting for since the Android Market started supporting paid apps. Earlier this year, Google renewed our hopes by adding the ability to have a Play Store balance for those who purchase a Nexus 7. This put us one step closer to gift cards, but there was still nothing concrete. What I have here today is more than concrete - it's solid evidence," states the Android Police report.
Additionally, according to the report, the Google Play store is "set to intercept links to play.google.com/redeem, which currently returns a "404 page not found" error."
As far as Wishlists are concerned, the report states that in addition to adding the ability to redeem Play Store gift cards, Google is going to add a wishlist where users can add apps, books, TV shows, movies, music, and magazines. It is also expected that users will be able to add the aforementioned content into a list and purchase it later, perhaps after redeeming a gift card.
Although we do not know as to when these features will arrive, the new images seem to validate the rumors.
