MCU has a lot of superheroes under its umbrella, and with the announcement of "Avengers: Infinity War," fans are expecting to see most of the Marvel characters taking part in the next installment. Apparently, one of the heroes won't make it to the next "Avengers" film as Evangeline Lilly confirmed during the New York Comic-Con that her character "The Wasp" will appear in "Avengers 4" and not in "Avengers: Infinity War."
In an interview with the Blastr, Lilly talked about the reason why The Wasp will not appear in the third "Avengers" movie.
"There's an Avengers series coming out. It's a two-parter. The Wasp won't be in the first part, she'll be in the second part, because they really want to preserve that reveal for 'Ant-Man and the Wasp,'" the 37-year-old actress said. "The Ant-Man and the Wasp" is slated to hit theaters two months after the "Avengers: Infinity War" premiere.
Moreover, it is said that it is only right that The Wasp takes her own spotlight before she is taken in the superhero group, which was the case for the Ant-Man character. Ant-Man, starred by Paul Rudd, has not made his appearance in any of the previous "Avengers" movies as well, but had a part in "Captain America: Civil War" last April.
It can be remembered that the end credits of the movie "Ant-Man," which was released in 2015, hinted at a debut of another heroine said to be called The Wasp. However, it turns out that the character's first appearance was moved to the fourth installment in the "Avengers" franchise.
Lilly's Hope Van Dyne was not featured in "Ant-Man" wearing her costume yet since that reveal, as stated, is bound to happen in the upcoming "Ant-Man and the Wasp" movie, where Lilly will serve as co-lead.
Reports speculated that the appearance of The Wasp in "Avengers 4" will have its setting on Earth as opposed to "Infinity War" which might happen in the galactic realm to fight Thanos (Josh Brolin). The addition of The Wasp suggests an Earth-base battle since the character appears to be more effective on Earth than in outer space.
Co-director Anthony Russo said that the movies "Avengers: Infinity War" and "Avengers 4" are very different in plot. Thus, the original plan of having a part one and part two of "Infinity War" will not push through but will have "cross-pollination between characters and some story-arcs."
"Avengers: Infinity War" will come to cinemas in May 2018 and the yet untitled sequel, more known as "Avengers 4," is slated for release in May 2019.
