After Samsung killed Galaxy Note 7 for good because of the disaster it caused to the brand and some lawsuits from its users, the South Korean tech giant is giving the phablet owners a $100 credit to buy another Samsung device.
Galaxy Note 7 Return and Exchange Program
Earlier this week, Samsung arrived at a decision to discontinue the production and sales of the device. Now, it has been announced that the firm is giving $100 credit to Note 7 owners who returned the device and are exchanging it to other smartphones from the company, such as the Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge. Samsung is also giving $25 credit to customers who exchanges the device with a handset coming from other brands. Owners are also allowed to get a full refund after returning the handset to where they purchased the device.
"We appreciate the patience of our consumers, carrier and retail partners for carrying the burden during these challenging times. We are committed to doing everything we can to make this right," Said Tim Baxter, the president and COO of Samsung Electronics America commenting in a statement on the refund and exchange program that is now being conducted in U.S.
In further comments, he also added that the safety of customers is the company's top priority and urged all Galaxy Note 7 owners to "power down and take advantage of the remedies available."
The Coverage of the Return Program
So far, the credit is only limited to U.S. customers. Samsung is already expanding the Note 7 refund program to Asia and Australia. No announcement has been made yet regarding other markets.
Samsung Sends Out Return Kits
The company also came up with a return kit where the devices can be kept for safety. The return kit features a fireproof paper inside in case the device catches fire while being transported.
At this moment, Samsung Galaxy Note 7's cause of the explosion is still unanswered. The company is still doing the investigation to verify the cause of the fiasco. Users and industry observers are expecting an explanation to be made soon.
