Samsung Offers Financial Statements to Galaxy Note 7 Users

Samsung has just announced a new set of financial incentives that it'll award to all Note 7 owners in its home country who exchange their device for other models in its lineup, including its flagship Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 edge.

Samsung Customers' Big Inconvenience

"We appreciate the patience of our consumers, carriers and retail partners for carrying the burden during these challenging times," said Tim Baxter, president and chief operating officer, Samsung Electronics America.

"We are committed to doing everything we can to make this right," Baxter added.

In a statement, Samsung explained that the incentives are a form of compensation for the big inconvenience that consumers had to experience. Those who opt for a complete refund are being offered a 30,000 won ($27) coupon, while those who picked up another Samsung phone are guaranteed 70,000 won ($61) mobile credit.

The move appears as Samsung finds itself in the unenviable position of trying to rebuild its brand in the wake of firing Galaxy Note 7s. The smartphone was quickly found to have a manufacturing defect that caused its battery to overheat, to smoke, burn up and explode.

Trusting Samsung Again

Choices about whether probably to offer some form of compensation to consumers for sticking with Samsung through the recall or not are being left to local sales.

This compensation thing movement comes as Samsung finds itself in the unenviable position of trying to rebuild its brand in the wake of exploding Galaxy Note 7s, as well as the trust of all buyers and enthusiasts. The next smartphones need to be quickly examined if it has a manufacturing defect that caused its battery to overheat, the smartphone to smoke, and in some cases, burn up and explode.

Samsung's latest move is clearly a desperate act to save its reputation, restore faith in clients that its other units won't explode and reassure them that the Galaxy Note 7 battery fiasco was a remote incident.
