If you are a Verizon HTC Thundebolt user and are waiting patiently for the official Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich) update, your patience is about to bear fruit. Reports indicate that an alleged official build of the carrier’s upcoming Ice Cream Sandwich update was leaked to Team BAMF’s forums.
The build number 7.00.605.2 shoots the Thunderbolt’s firmware up to Android 4.0.3 and also brings Sense 3.6 along with it. What’s more, the update is pre-rooted with “all of the HTC spyware” removed.
“I know everyone has been waiting a long time for this, so I will get right to it. This is an actual leak of a 4.0.3 (ICS) ROM for the Thunderbolt from HTC and Verizon,” states the official Team BAMF page. “Everything in this ROM functions including 3g/4g, phone calls, sms/mms and more. HTC has been nice enough to include Sense 3.6 which is quite the upgrade from Sense 2.1.”
This ROM is entirely a stock ROM with a little root added in for super user permissions. What this means is that it should be more than stable (remembering that this is the final release before the official OTA rollout).
You could give the ROM a try by downloading it from here.
