A few days ago, Japan-based Kojima Productions announced a brand new "Metal Gear Solid" game at the MGS 25th Anniversary Meet. Per reports, the new game has been developed for Japan's leading mobile GREE platform and is being called "Metal Gear Solid: Social Ops." The Kojima Productions release is essentially a Metal Gear Solid social networking game.
"Metal Gear Solid: Social Ops" has been developed with the help of Unity, and features some extraordinary graphics for a game both running that will be running on mobiles and will be utilizing the respective engine.
Currently, there's no information available as to when or whether "Metal Gear Solid: Social Ops" will be arriving on other mobile platforms such as Android and iOS (also Windows Phone). The other mobile platform release decision will be an important one for the company, owing to the fact that Android and iOS are the two mobile giants ruling the smartphone domain.
Nonetheless, a Famitsu report (translated) confirms that the game will be playable at this year's Tokyo Game Show. Kojima also took the opportunity and officially announced a "Metal Gear Solid" movie, which will be released through Columbia Pictures and produced by Avi Arad.
"Metal Gear" had already celebrated its 25th anniversary earlier this year. The original game in the series - "Metal Gear" for the MSX2 - was released on July 7, 1987 in Japan. Till date, a total of 31 million "Metal Gear" games have been sold.
