Android Nougat was made official about two months ago. However, it has only been Google who has released the update to all of its eligible devices. The remainder of the smartphone developers is still taking their time before rolling out the update. Luckily, though, most of these companies have already confirmed their list of eligible devices.
Android Nougat Coming To Motorola Devices
Finally, Motorola joins the other companies who have already released their Nougat eligible list. In Motorola's blog, the company has listed down fifteen devices that will be getting the update. It was also said that they will start the rollout in Q4 with the Moto Z and 4th-Gen Moto G. The Nougat release for the rest of the Moto phones isn't specified just yet. Just expect that Android Nougat will also get to some of the Moto X devices, Droid devices, and all variants of the Moto Z.
Android Nougat Coming To HTC Devices
HTC is the first one to provide their list of Nougat-eligible devices. IB Times says that the company has confirmed the roll out to the HTC 10. It was said that the new Android update could even be released to the HTC 10 as early as next month. The HTC 10 Lifestyle, HTC One M9 and HTC One A9 will also get their update but at a later time.
Android Nougat Coming To Sony Devices
Sony is also among the first companies to share their list of eligible devices. GSM Arena says that Sony will be releasing the update to the Xperia Z3+, Z4, Z5, Z5 Compact and Z5 Premium. The Xperia X, XA, XA Ultra, and X Performance will also be updated.
Android Nougat Coming To Samsung Devices
It's worth noting that a recently spotted benchmark revealed an S7 device running the full Nougat OS. This means that Samsung might be releasing the update to the S7 and S7 Edge devices very soon. The discontinuation of the Note 7 made the S7 devices the company's latest flagship release. This means that these two phones are indeed the first among Samsung's phones to get updated.
Android Nougat Roll Out
It's safe to say that if your phone is relatively new, you'll be getting an Android Nougat update. So while there are still companies who have not confirmed their lists yet, just keep in mind that the newer your phone is, the higher your chances are in getting the update. Also, take into account your Android phone's CPU. If your phone uses Snapdragon 801, then it's pretty certain that it won't be getting updated as that chipset is incompatible with Nougat.
