Tumblr has pushed out brand new updates for its iOS and Android apps. The new update has brought a bevy of features, which makes it easy for users to create and share content.
Per reports, apart from creation and sharing, the discovery process has also been updated to allow tag following and make blogs from friends easier to find. Mobile users can now share and reblog posts faster. An improved 'Reblog' button and 'advanced sharing' options (which distributes content to Twitter, e-mail, or opens it in a browser) have made this improvement possible.
As of August 20, 2012, Tumblr has over 69.4 million blogs and more than 29.8 billion total posts. As of 2009, Tumblr had an 85 percent retention rate, compared with 40 percent for Twitter.
Additionally, tags can now be tracked for discovery. For example, users will be aided in keeping up with all 'iPhone' tagged Tumblr blogs. Blogs from Facebook and on-device contacts can also be found through the app, which has added new shortcuts along with revamped alerts that sends out notifications (or a ping) when a user has new likes, reblogs, or anything similar.
Users can download the app from the Apple App Store and Google Play .
