Now that Apple's new iOS version has already made its way to a large population of iOS users, a number of these people might have already pointed out their own list of annoying iOS 10 features. The current iOS version is already down to iOS v10.0.2 and it brings in some fixes and unfortunately some new bugs too. Needless to say, Apple might be sending a new minor update pretty soon. As for our list of annoying iOS 10 features, here they are:
Press The Home Button To Unlock
Before, when the display is on and the user's finger makes contact with the fingerprint scanner, the phone unlocks. Now, even if the display is on and the phone recognizes your prints, you'd still need to press the home button. If you just got your phone updated, you'd get this new feature automatically activated. Fortunately though, you can always revert your home button to its old self. According to Forbes, just go to Settings and find that option in Accessibility. For people who have no time to hit Settings even for half a minute, you might find this new gesture really annoying.
New Swipe Up Options
Swiping from the bottom to the top gives us the option to enable and disable multiple functions like the Airplane Mode, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, Do Not Disturb Mode and Auto Rotation. It was a really good addition from the previous version as it also allows easy access to all other important phone functions like the flash light, timer, calculator, camera and brightness settings. With the new iOS version, swiping up also allows users to swipe left to see the music functions like Play, Forward and Backward.
There might be some music lovers who think that this is a great addition to the iOS. However, some people might also find this annoying - especially those who constantly change their brightness settings using the swipe-up gesture. Swiping up and sliding your finger to the left to lower your screen brightness can sometimes open the music settings tab instead. This makes it easy for people to realize that this option is not necessary and the music buttons might as well be displayed immediately upon swiping up, together with the other important functions.
Lift To Wake Function
The bigger problem about the Lift To Wake function of the iOS 10 is not the fact that it tolerates a higher level of laziness. The bigger problem with this is battery consumption and of course, the annoying sight of seeing your phone light up even when you don't intend to wake it up. If you have this function turned on, you will probably realize how many times you normally lift your phone without an intention to use it, like when you snatch your phone from the table because you're leaving the room, or when you take your phone to put it in your bag. During these times, the Lift To Wake function of your device is rendered a waste of resources. CNET says you can disable this function by hitting Settings and Display and Brightness.
iOS 10 Good Features
Fortunately, the iOS 10 brings in more good things than annoying things. One of the best additions in the iOS 10 is the new iMessage features. While it was also great to have a very simple messaging app through iMessage, all the new improvements given to Apple's native messaging app are also welcome additions. Now, the iMessage has become as fun as most of the third party messaging apps, making it a good competition to popular messengers. Needless to say, opinions on these iOS changes can vary from person to person. But as a whole, it's safe to say that Apple does very well in trying to improve their user experience.
