Despite Youkyung leaving her agency, she and FNC Entertainment seem to be on good terms. In a message to fans, the idol said she will continue to be AOA Black's drummer if the group plans to release a new song. Meanwhile, AOA leader Jimin posted a photo of all eight members on her Instagram account following the news of Youkyung's departure.
"I'm sure there are some who have already heard, but after a lot of conversation and considerations, I have decided to end my contract with FNC, who I've been with for the past 5 years," Youkyung wrote on the girl group's official fan café, as cited by All Kpop. "I haven't really had many promotions with them," she added.
Youkyung said that she feels sad about the AOA members, whom she had spent her late teens with, but cited that it will not be a final goodbye as she will still participate in AOA Black's activities. "If AOA Black comes back with a new song, I'll unchangingly be their drummer!" she said.
She thanked fans who had cheered and loved them and added that she will work hard to make a comeback with a better image. The idol also asked fans to continue supporting her as well as AOA and FNC Entertainment.
On the other hand, band leader Jimin posted a picture of all eight members of AOA on her Instagram account with the caption, "_A♡A," replacing letter "O" with a heart symbol.
Previously, FNC Entertainment released an official statement regarding Youkyung's departure, saying they decided to respect her decision after long discussions. The company also asked fans to continue supporting AOA and Youkyung as she restarts her career.
Youkyung had been with the FNC Entertainment for five years. She debuted with AOA in 2012 and was promoted as drummer through AOA Black's "Moya" with Jimin, Yuna, Mina and Choa in 2013. However, AOA has since focused on promoting sexy dance songs and Youkyung was not able to participate much in the group's activities.
