Skype has started pushing out a new beta version of its Windows and Mac client - 5.11.
The beta has added support for logging into the voice over Internet protocol or VoIP service with Microsoft and Facebook accounts. What's more, Skype, in an attempt to make most out of the services of its parent company, is letting users sign in with a Microsoft ID and chat with anyone using Messenger on Windows, Xbox 360, or from within Hotmail/Outlook.com.
If users decide to sign in with a Microsoft or Facebook account, they will be offered an option to link their Skype account. If they choose the link option then Skype will display a combined list of friends. However, the Skype team states that this is an area the company is still working on, so it's wrong to expect that there won't be any problems at startup.
Issues like the IM area becoming blurry after scrolling in Mountain Lion (Mac), and the 1:1 Screen sharing not working in some languages (Danish, Italian, Brazilian Portuguese, Spanish, Japanese, Traditional Chinese, and Korean) have been resolved.
As far as Windows is concerned, localized versions of Skype in Thai, Croatian, Slovenian, Serbian, Catalan, or Slovak is now available. These inclusions implies that Skype will now be supporting a total of 38 different languages.
Redesigned emoticons in HD (yn, facepalm, waiting, highfive, lalala, and tumbleweed) are also available.
