Renowned Apple hacker & developer Steve Troughton-Smith just recently tweeted that he discovered a one-hand mode for the iPhone 7 keyboard while hacking the iOS Simulator. The "Secret Keyboard" feature has apparently been a hidden feature in the system ever since iOS 8 but has recently been discovered.
A new discovery has been made!
Troughton-Smith explained that the one-handed keyboard mode can be the switch from the original keyboard by a manner of swiping the edge on the keys, which will reveal a sidebar of cut/copy/paste control, and then squishing the other keys downward and to the side. With this mode active, it would make it a lot easier for the user to text or chat using their phone using only one hand. Most of the time it would be hard using the normal keyboard as the width of the iPhone 7 proves to be too wide for your thumb to be able to stretch to each key.
The main purpose of the one-handed keyboard mode
The reason why Apple kept this feature as a secret still remains puzzling for most people, but it is no doubt that the main purpose of why the tech giant incorporated this feature in their iOS 8 is to be able to support reachability. Apple wants its users to have been able to use the phone one-handed since they understand that in some cases people would tend to prefer one-handed usage.
People are Happy about this new discovery
Whether the one-handed keyboard was formally introduced to the general public or not, people are still happy that it was actually there all the time and someone has finally discovered it. Some might even think that considering that it has been pretty much unused for the most part since the release of iOS 8, that it would suggest the feature has been shelved. But as of the moment, no one really cares. What they are thinking about more is that fact that they can now efficiently use their phones one-handedly.
