Watch Out For The Strangest Video Tournament Ever

Ever heard of the strangest video tournament ever? Well, there really is one and it's happening in New York City. Called Super Ronny's Hot Rumble, the tournament includes a smashing a piñata, racing to a helicopter, eating a lot of marshmallows, and being part of a robot contest. Get the picture?

This four-hour long video tournament was organized by Babycastles, a game development 'collective and exhibition space' headquartered in New York City. The main objective of the group is to promote and provide a voice for indie game developers.

The tournament might not be popular in the mainstream gaming industry but it has already conducted four tournaments prior to the one that is happening this year with game developer Frank de Marco organizing this year's tournament.

The game commenced with a marshmallow eating contest which doesn't really require eating. The contestants stuffed 10 giant marshmallows inside their mouth and had to shout "Hot Ronny" perfectly. After that, the real Hot Ronny, Ronny Nnuñez, made an appearance to officially announce the game.

The next round started with a game called Snacats, a multiplayer version of Snake where players control adorable cats to snag a fish. The more the felines eat fish, the longer the line gets. Next game is a 2-D fighting game called Yo Fight My Mans while the third game is called Particle Mace which is reminiscent of Asteroids. The final game was Videoball where players had to play in a specially-designed course.

When asked the reason why he started such kind of tournament, Nuñez said that gamers are "used to performing in games and not so much embodying the physical space."

"It’s about doing s**t for s**t’s sake — not just doing it because that’s just how things are done, but because, why the f**k not?," he added.

The game finally ended with a piñata loot filled with plastic jewels with adhesive, owl stickers, drink umbrellas, and a single ride metro-card.
